Working party update

The weather was lovely, sunny and warm for our working party on the 29th June. The time was spent moving large stones from an area that will become rough grassland into some piles of reptile hibernacula. The hibernacula consists of piles of tree roots, stones and soil with vegetation growing in it and makes a lovely home for the common lizards and slow worms on the site. When the grass grows up around them it will link the hibernacula to the rest of the site and allow the reptiles to find their way to it. Some reeds were also re-located but the ground was too dry in most places to allow any digging.
The next volunteer morning will be on the 26th October (see pdf poster below). By this point there will be areas ready for planting trees so there will be plenty of work for everyone!
